PVD Young Makers
The PVD Young Makers program provides Providence youth with free and unlimited access to advanced digital tools and a supportive community to help develop the next generation of Providence creatives. Free programs run in all nine Providence Community libraries on a rolling schedule of studio time, workshops and classes. Programing emphasizes youth, but adult learners and volunteers are welcome to participate in programs if space is available.
The PVD Young Makers program teaches kids how to make stuff with an emphasis on coding, design and fabrication. Our youth grow their skills and confidence through the process of creating, experimenting, and learning.
For summer 2022, PVD Young Makers will work in partnership with the Community Libraries of Providence, Providence Public Library, and Providence After School Alliance (PASA) to provide STEAM based enrichment programming. Targeting middle school students and high school students, all programming will be done at the Libraries, please check your local library’s website for specifics: Community Libraries of Providence and Providence Public Library. PASA programming sign-ups are being conducted in-school at each student’s middle school.
Additionally, PVD Young Maker’s Teen Intern program will once again be executed in partnership with Rhode Island Department of Education’s (RIDE) All Course Network (ACN). Information and sign ups for this opportunity will be available via the EnrollRI website after May 2nd.
